WOOA Plastic Surgery › Frequently asked questions
Where are the scars after breast revision surgery?
Breast revision moves the existing implant or replaces it with a new one when problems arise following a previous breast operation — implant damage, shape change or pain, asymmetry, or dissatisfaction with size or shape. According to the clinic, internal problems are checked by ultrasound and the capsule is removed partly or entirely as needed.

Risks and side effects
- Revision is also implant surgery, so the causes of capsular contracture the clinic lists (bleeding or hematoma, infection with inflammation, excessive fibrosis) can occur again.
- Capsule-related conditions listed by the clinic include implant rupture, capsular contracture, seroma and calcification.
- Keloid-type scars can form; they are treated with scar injections.
- The clinic states that breast revision is more difficult than the first operation.
Results and recovery vary by individual. Possible complications are explained during consultation.
How it is done
Step 1 checks breast proportions and sets a suitable size in consultation; step 2 identifies internal problems with high-resolution ultrasound. When the whole capsule does not need removing and only shape needs improving, a capsulotomy removes part of the capsule; when rupture, capsular contracture, seroma or calcification requires full removal, a capsulectomy removes the implant first and then all capsule tissue. The previous breast-fold (about 3–4 cm) or armpit (about 2–4 cm) incision is reused, with a Full HD endoscope and a Keller funnel.

Frequently asked questions
Does revision always require a breast-fold incision?
The clinic states that if the implant was originally inserted through the armpit crease, revision can be done through the armpit crease; if through the breast fold, through the breast fold.
Is the whole capsule always removed?
No. When only the shape needs improving, a capsulotomy removes part of the capsule; when rupture, capsular contracture, seroma or calcification requires full removal, a capsulectomy is performed. This is decided from ultrasound and other test results.
How long is the operation and do I stay in hospital?
Per the revision sub-pages, about 2 hours under general anesthesia, with same-day discharge or a one-night stay depending on the type. There are no stitches to remove.
Who performs the breast surgery?
The clinic's breast surgery and breast revision pages state that three board-certified plastic surgeons — Dr. Kim Woo-jung, Dr. Park Young-ji and Dr. Park Hae-yeon — operate in person. A board-certified anesthesiologist is dedicated 1:1 to anesthesia from the start to the end of surgery.
