Where are the scars after breast reduction?

Breast reduction removes tissue from excessively large breasts. According to the clinic, the method is chosen by size among periareolar, vertical and inverted-T incisions, and liposuction can be added when the breast has more fatty tissue than glandular tissue.

Risks and side effects

Results and recovery vary by individual. Possible complications are explained during consultation.

How it is done

The incision depends on size. Periareolar is for small reductions (clinic's indication: mild macromastia, E cup and above); vertical removes more than periareolar (F cup and above); inverted-T runs from the areola to the breast fold and removes the most (G cup and above, with severe sagging). Skin around the nipple, internal breast fat and, where needed, glandular tissue are removed; if there is much fatty tissue, liposuction can be added as an adjunct.
