Implant rupture and replacement — WOOA Plastic Surgery
Replacement or removal of ruptured or old implants, or implants causing pain or inflammation. According to the clinic, ultrasound determines whether the capsule needs removing: if there is no problem, only the implant is replaced or removed; if there are complications, the implant and capsule are removed together. Price: KRW 10,000,000~ Per the clinic's surgery information: operation time about 2 hours, general anesthesia, same-day discharge, no stitch removal, recovery period one week. If sagging after removal is a concern, a lift through periareolar, vertical or inverted-T incisions can be done at the same time.

Who this is for
- Those with implant damage confirmed by ultrasound or MRI
- Those whose implants were placed 10 or more years ago and may have deteriorated
- Those with Allergan textured (Bellagel) implants
- Those with symptoms of capsular contracture or a foreign-body reaction
- Those who want replacement or removal because of body changes or personal preference
How it is done
Breast proportions and ultrasound are used to decide whether the capsule must be removed. If you only want replacement or removal with no other problem, the capsule is left and only the implant is replaced or removed (the clinic says keeping the capsule helps prevent sudden adhesion, maintain the contour and reduce tissue damage); if capsular contracture or rupture is present, the implant and the whole capsule are removed. If sagging is a concern following removal, a periareolar, vertical or inverted-T lift is performed at the same time.

Risks and side effects
- Revision is also implant surgery, so the causes of capsular contracture the clinic lists (bleeding or hematoma, infection with inflammation, excessive fibrosis) can occur again.
- Capsule-related conditions listed by the clinic include implant rupture, capsular contracture, seroma and calcification.
- Keloid-type scars can form; they are treated with scar injections.
- The clinic states that breast revision is more difficult than the first operation.
- Removing implants can leave the breast sagging because of old implants or poor skin elasticity, so a lift is considered at the same time.
Results and recovery vary by individual. Possible complications are explained during consultation.
For international patients
- The clinic website (ABOUT WOOA) states that interpreters and 24-hour care staff are available. Supported languages are not listed on the website, so please confirm during consultation.

Frequently asked questions
Must the capsule always be removed?
The clinic states that unless complications have occurred, not removing the capsule completely has more advantages (preventing sudden adhesion, keeping the contour, less tissue damage). With complications such as capsular contracture or rupture, the implant and capsule are removed completely.
Will my breasts sag when the implants come out?
Sagging can occur because of old implants or skin with poor elasticity; if this is a concern, the clinic performs a lift through periareolar, vertical or inverted-T incisions at the same time.
How long is the operation and do I stay in hospital?
About 2 hours under general anesthesia with same-day discharge; there are no stitches to remove.
Who performs the breast surgery?
The clinic's breast surgery and breast revision pages state that three board-certified plastic surgeons — Dr. Kim Woo-jung, Dr. Park Young-ji and Dr. Park Hae-yeon — operate in person. A board-certified anesthesiologist is dedicated 1:1 to anesthesia from the start to the end of surgery.
