Lower blepharoplasty — WOOA Plastic Surgery
Lower blepharoplasty trims skin, fat and muscle of the sagging lower eyelid to improve under-eye drooping and wrinkles. According to the clinic website, only an appropriate amount of fat is removed in each area and the orbicularis oculi muscle is pulled and fixed, in a way intended to keep the under-eye roll (aegyo-sal). Price: KRW 350,000~ Per the clinic's surgery information: operation time 1 hour, short-acting sedation, no hospital stay required, stitch removal after 7 days, recovery period 7 days. Where skin removal is not needed, the clinic describes a mini lower blepharoplasty that does not cut away skin.

Who this is for
- Those whose sagging under-eyes look tired and older
- Those whose bulging under-eye fat casts a shadow
- Those with deepening under-eye wrinkles and reduced skin elasticity
- Those whose under-eye roll and fat blend together and darken the look
How it is done
Prior to surgery, the degree of sagging, orbicularis muscle condition, fat volume and facial structure are analysed to decide whether and how to operate. In lower blepharoplasty, a minimal incision is made at the outer corner, avoiding the inner part to preserve nerves; under-eye fat is removed or repositioned to smooth the area and the septum is reinforced. The orbicularis muscle is then pulled and fixed, and the remaining skin is trimmed and sutured. Mini lower blepharoplasty uses a fine incision along the inner eyelid line, repositions excess fat into hollow areas, and lifts and fixes the loosened orbital septum, then sutures the incision.

Risks and side effects
- Swelling, bruising, pain, bleeding and infection can occur.
- Asymmetry or a result that differs from the intended shape may require correction or revision surgery.
- Ectropion — the lower eyelid turning outward so the red conjunctiva shows — can occur. The clinic states that it decides whether and how to operate based on a pre-operative analysis to prevent this.
- Scars can remain at the incision; how long they take to settle and how visible they are differ between individuals.
- Depending on the amount of fat removed, the under-eye can look hollow or some bulging can remain.
Results and recovery vary by individual. Possible complications are explained during consultation.

Frequently asked questions
Will I lose my under-eye roll (aegyo-sal)?
The clinic states that excessive fat removal and lifting can remove the under-eye roll, so it removes only an appropriate amount of fat in each area and lifts in a way intended to keep it. Results differ with individual under-eye anatomy.
Who is mini lower blepharoplasty for?
Per the clinic website, it is recommended when under-eye laxity is not severe, when excess fat rather than muscle laxity is the cause, when there is a lot of under-eye fat, or when the recovery from skin removal is a concern.
How long does it take and what is recovery like?
Per the clinic's surgery information: operation time 1 hour, short-acting sedation, no hospital stay, stitch removal after 7 days, recovery period 7 days.
