Short nose rhinoplasty — WOOA Plastic Surgery
Short nose rhinoplasty corrects the length and angle of a short nose whose tip is upturned or whose nostrils are visible from the front. The clinic website classifies a nose as short when the nasolabial angle seen from the side is 110 degrees or more, and lengthens it with cartilage repositioning, autologous cartilage grafts and an implant or autologous tissue. Price: KRW 50,000~ Clinic criterion: a nasolabial angle of 110 degrees or more is classified as a short nose. Surgery information table: operation time 1–1.5 hours, sedation anesthesia, no hospital stay, stitches removed 7 days after surgery.

Who this is for
- Those whose tip looks upturned
- Those whose columella is retracted
- Those whose nostrils are clearly visible from the front
How it is done
According to the clinic website, a 3D-CT scan taken prior to surgery is used to analyse the internal structure of the nose, the cartilage, the skin layers and any functional problems, and the findings are reflected in the surgical plan. When the nose is very short and the nostrils are visible, the alar cartilage is separated from the upper lateral cartilage and repositioned downward, autologous cartilage is grafted into the resulting space to fix it, and if the tip looks strongly upturned, cartilage is also grafted onto the tip. When the nose is short but the nostrils are not visible, the radix (between the eyebrows) is raised with an implant or autologous tissue to lengthen the nose and cartilage is grafted onto the tip, or the septal cartilage is repositioned downward to lower the alae with cartilage grafted along the alar rims, according to the clinic. Autologous tissue is chosen according to the condition: septal cartilage (harvested inside the nose without another incision, used to raise the tip or lengthen the nose), rib cartilage (used where support and durability are needed), autologous dermis (harvested from the buttock to fill in where the skin over the bridge is thin or soft tissue is lacking) and ear cartilage (round and elastic, used to build tip structure, to cover a silicone implant, or to supplement septal cartilage), according to the clinic. An anesthesiologist monitors the patient during surgery; consultation, design and the operation are handled by the assigned surgeon, and aftercare consists of follow-up checks by that surgeon and 1:1 care by a dedicated coordinator, according to the clinic.
Recovery timeline
- Operation time1 to 1.5 hours
- AnesthesiaSedation anesthesia
- Hospital stayNot required
- Stitch removal7 days after surgery
- AftercareAccording to the clinic, the assigned surgeon checks your progress and a dedicated coordinator provides 1:1 care.

Risks and side effects
- The clinic states that, depending on individual recovery, common side effects such as bleeding, inflammation and infection can occur after surgery.
- Swelling and bruising can occur, and asymmetry or a shape different from what was expected may require further correction.
- Results vary with individual factors such as skin thickness and cartilage condition.
- A lengthened nose can partly change in length or tip shape because of skin tension and tissue contraction.
- When an implant is used, implant show-through, movement or tilting, and contracture (surrounding tissue tightening and shortening the nose) may require revision surgery.
- When cartilage or dermis is harvested, the donor site (inside the nose, ear, rib or buttock) may have discomfort such as pain or a scar.
Results and recovery vary by individual. Possible complications are explained during consultation.
Frequently asked questions
How is a short nose defined?
The clinic regards an upturned tip, a retracted columella or clearly visible nostrils as signs of a short nose, and classifies it as short when the nasolabial angle seen from the side is 110 degrees or more.
How is the nose lengthened?
Depending on the type, the clinic describes repositioning the alar cartilage downward and fixing it with autologous cartilage, raising the radix with an implant or autologous tissue, or repositioning the septal cartilage downward.
How long is the operation, and what about anesthesia and stitches?
Per the surgery information table on the clinic website, the operation takes 1 to 1.5 hours under sedation anesthesia, no hospital stay is required, and stitches are removed 7 days after surgery. Recovery speed differs between individuals, so please confirm your schedule during consultation.
