Upper blepharoplasty (with orbicularis muscle correction) — WOOA Plastic Surgery
Upper blepharoplasty trims sagging skin and fat of the upper eyelid. The clinic website identifies age-related sagging of the orbicularis oculi muscle (the muscle that encircles the eye) as a cause of eyelid drooping, and states that its position and tension are corrected together during upper blepharoplasty. Price: KRW 350,000~ Per the clinic's surgery information: operation time 1 hour, short-acting sedation, no hospital stay required, stitch removal after 7 days, recovery period 7 days. The incision follows the double eyelid crease.

Who this is for
- Those whose drooping eyelids block their vision
- Those who use their forehead or eyebrows to open their eyes
- Those often told they look sleepy or tired
- Those whose crease has collapsed or is clearly asymmetric
- Those troubled by eyelashes poking the eye
How it is done
The design takes into account eye size, skin elasticity, how much of the iris shows, orbital fat distribution, previous surgery, the degree and direction of orbicularis muscle sagging, the preferred method and overall facial balance. An incision along the crease removes a minimal amount of sagging skin and unnecessary fat; the sagging orbicularis muscle is trimmed and pulled up and fixed within a range that does not burden the eye, and the incision is closed along the crease. Where upper blepharoplasty alone is not enough (heavy brow sagging with a short eye-to-brow distance, or ptosis with weak eye-opening strength), the clinic describes combining it with a forehead lift or brow lift.

Risks and side effects
- Swelling, bruising, pain, bleeding and infection can occur.
- Asymmetry or a result that differs from the intended shape may require correction or revision surgery.
- An incision scar remains along the crease; how long it takes to settle and how visible it is differ between individuals.
- Removing too much skin can make the eyes hard to close or the look sharper, so the amount removed is decided carefully.
- Dry eyes or a feeling of tightness in the eyelid can occur.
Results and recovery vary by individual. Possible complications are explained during consultation.

Frequently asked questions
How does upper blepharoplasty differ from a brow lift?
In the clinic's comparison, upper blepharoplasty removes sagging skin and fat from the upper eyelid and is recommended when the whole eyelid droops; a brow lift is done through an incision below the eyebrow to lift the skin of the outer eye area and is recommended when sagging is worst toward the outer corner.
Is upper blepharoplasty alone sometimes not enough?
The clinic states that with heavy brow sagging and a short eye-to-brow distance, or with ptosis and weak eye-opening strength, upper blepharoplasty alone may be insufficient, and describes combining it with a forehead lift or brow lift. Suitability is decided after diagnosis.
How long does it take and what is recovery like?
Per the clinic's surgery information: operation time 1 hour, short-acting sedation, no hospital stay, stitch removal after 7 days, recovery period 7 days.
