Risks and side effects
- Capsular contracture: the capsule around the implant tightens and hardens; the clinic lists bleeding or hematoma, bacterial infection with inflammation, excessive fibrosis and implant damage as causes.
- The clinic notes that dual-plane placement can show animation deformity (shape change when the chest muscle moves), bottoming-out and lateral displacement.
- Implant rupture, double-bubble deformity, upper-pole fullness or asymmetry may require revision surgery.
- Keloid-type scars can form; they are treated with scar injections.
Results and recovery vary by individual. Possible complications are explained during consultation.

Frequently asked questions
Where is the scar?
The incision is about 2–4 cm along the armpit crease or about 3–4 cm along the breast fold. It is closed with Dermabond so no stitches are removed; scar ointment starts at 2 weeks, keloid-type scars receive scar injections, and laser scar care may follow 6 months to 1 year later.
How is the implant size (cc) decided?
Height, weight, chest width, skin elasticity and breast spacing are measured, breast ultrasound checks gland and muscle, and a simulation with actual surgical implants is done. Even for the same cup size, implant size, height and projection are chosen according to body shape and skin elasticity; the clinic designs the outer breast line within 1 cm of the armpit line.
Do I need to stay in hospital, and when can I return to daily life?
Surgery is planned for same-day discharge where possible, with a hospital room available if a one-night stay is needed. Walks from 2–3 days, exercise and raising the arms overhead from one month, driving from 7–10 days and underwire bras from 6 months post-surgery.
How is pain managed?
Pain relievers and fever reducers are prescribed at discharge; if pain is severe, the clinic advises taking another painkiller at spaced intervals. The degree of pain differs between individuals.
